  • 1.  Interface speed for HA interfaces?

    Posted 03-29-2008 17:35

    Hi there,

on machines such as the SSG520 which don't have dedicated HA interfaces, what kind of interface should I choose to bind to the HA zone? Will 100 mbit be enough or will I have to sacrifice precious gigabit interfaces?

    Thanks

    Hi Crypto

100 Mbit interfaces are more than enought 🙂 so don t use a 1gig interfaces !

So if 100 mbit are "more than enough", would a single interface be enough to carry session AND control messages? Basically, can I reliably do HA (active/passive for the moment) with a single 100 mbit interface? How about in a active/active cluster?

    Thanks!!

    Hi cryptochrome,

Yes a single interface is enought for the 2 kind of message. The only point of failure  in this case is : If your HA  link falls down , your cluster will be break.

That s why we often suggest to set a secondary HA link and/or set up the secondary path options. It s the same for A/A cluster.
