  • 1.  How to find out the default gateway on SRX650?

    Posted 09-20-2010 21:22

Hi, new to Juniper here.  Working on an SRX650 and can't find what the default gateway is set to...  can anyone tell me how to find that?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

you have to install a default route pointing to your gateway. From CLI, you issue this command:

    set routing-options static route 0.0.0.0/0 next-hop 1.2.3.4

Provided that 1.2.3.4 is your next-hop. In GUI, you do it right the same way by creating a static route with equal details.

    Kind regards,

    Dominik

Ahh, so the next hop is the gateway?

Yes. Every router a packet traverse on its way to the target is considered a hop. And from your SRXs view the next hop is the gateway provided to you from your ISP. Smiley Happy

Thanks, appreciate the quick responses.  I understand the hops, but was confused by this in particular.  I guess I was expecting to find a box actually labeled 'gateway'.
