The Juniper Feature explorer tool lets you see which hardware platforms support a feature. This shows the platform and Junos version needed for the feature support.
Looking at vpls there is no support as of yet on the PTX hardware.

Subject: vJunosEvo & VPLS Routing Instance
Hi,
I have been using the vJunos-Evolved 23.2R2 image in eve-ng preparing for the JNCIP-SP exam, and noticed that the ability to create a routing-instance with the type of VPLS is not available, however this option and others are available on the vJunos-router 23.2R1 image. Does this mean that the Juniper PTX that evo image is based on does not support as much as a standard Junos device?
