  • 1.  Redundant Interface Naming

When I provide a name to a pair of network-interfaces, which are going to be redundant, do/should theses names be the same or different? Or does it not matter? What happens if I am in PCLI on one of the nodes in an HA pair, and issue a ping command, specifying a redundant interface as my egress-interface parm. Does it matter if the two redundant network-interfaces are named differently?

The names are mostly for your benefit. (Under the hood the interfaces use ID values.) In general you should probably name them the same, as it makes it their association much clearer.

Your second question about pinging is more involved. When you issue a ping command, unless you specify the node, it will look for the interface on the local node and then attempt to ping from the node on which you issued the command. So from that perspective, it doesn't matter if the names of the interfaces are dissimilar.
