I've been back and forth with our Juniper SE on this .... confused I believe I am 😉
We are looking at a 2 X EX4200 deployment at a remote site. This site does mainly layer2 traffic with a small amount of layer3 static routing.
My question is both in regards to layer2 and layer3 functions on this device...
Can we "rate limit" traffic in *both* directions at layer2 and layer3? I'm told you can only do this outbound on an interface or VLAN?
The services sold to customers here might involve a lan extension service that has 100 meg physical ports but they are only permitted 20 meg of traffic for example. Customer's could also have an additional VLAN on that 100 meg port where they are purchasing 5 meg of Internet access.
Today, we use a Cisco 6500 chassis there and it does this just fine...
Thanks,
Paul
