  • 1.  Question on 802.1x

    Hi.

Multiple hosts are connected via a hub to an EX port which is in single supplicant mode. If the first host to attempt 802.1x authentication fails, can the others attempt 802.1x authentication and access the network?

Also, what if the EX port is in single-secure supplicant mode and the first host attempting 802.1x authentication fails? Does another host get a chance to authenticate?

    Thanks,

    Deepak

    Hi,

I tried both scenarios with MAC RADIUS (not .1x) and Mist NAC.

In both cases, if the first host authentication failed, the other hosts could authenticate successfully at times, after the re-authentication attempts post the quiet period.

However, there was no control over the MAC address for which the authentication was attempted. If the attempt was made with the MAC address that was allowed in the NAC policies it worked, otherwise it didn't.
