  • 1.  OSPF prefix suppression

    Posted 03-01-2024 21:55

    Hi everyone,

    In Cisco, we can configure OPSF not to advertise link-prefix over which OSPF neighbor relationship esxist.

    R1 gig 199.199.199.1-------199.199.199.2 gig R2

    Normally, OSPF advertises Type1 LSA for the link ( 199.199.199.0/24)  being used for OSPF neighbor relationship. we can turn OSPF prefix suppression to avoid that.

    Do we have similar functionality in JUNOS?

    Much appreciated!!

    There is no such thing in JUNOS , best we can do is to use policy achieve that.

    You just wasted 2 seconds, you should have read my response first. In fact it is the same link I stumbled upon before I posted my last response . T he link  you provided shows the same thing I mentioned: we can use policy to achieve that. But there is no such command in Junos  like we find in Cisco to do that.

    Could use flood-reduction;

    Specify to send self-generated link-state advertisements (LSAs) with the DoNotAge bit set. As a result, self-originated LSAs are not reflooded every 30 minutes, as required by OSPF by default. An LSA is refreshed only when the content of the LSA changes, which reduces OSPF traffic overhead in stable topologies.
