    Hi,

I have  a 4200 switch with two VRFS (one VRF and the global routing). I want to put the new VRF in to a new area, and the global into area 0.

What will the result of this be. will the VRF's be able to communicate with each other as the VRF becomes an ABR and start to share routes. Or, since the areas are seperated by VRF and essentially running on different virtual routers, will they still be seperate OSPF members.

Just brainstorming but some clarification would be great

    Hi,

default would be VRFs would not be able to communicate between each other (separate OSPF instances). By using policies you can allow local communication between VRFs on the same device (for non-overlapping addresses obviously).

    Kind Regards
