    I had reason to convert a totally stubby area to a  Not so Totally Stubby area.
    Originally my area had only a default route from outside its area.
    But now I'm seeing external routes from other areas. This appear to me to not be correct.

    {primary:node0}[edit routing-instances VR-CHANGED protocols ospf area 0.0.0.8]
    root@lab-CORE-SRX# show
    nssa {
        default-lsa default-metric 200;
        no-summaries;
    }
    area-range 10.123.0.0/16;
    interface reth0.3123;

    {primary:node0}[edit routing-instances VR-CHANGED protocols ospf area 0.0.0.8]
    root@lab-CORE-SRX#

    Behaviour is the same in production and in my Lab

    adding to my own post
    Configuring OSPF Areas | Junos OS | Juniper Networks
    I wonder if this is even supported in which case what does the "no-summaries" actually do.

    You're probably looking for no-nssa-abr: https://www.juniper.net/documentation/us/en/software/junos/ospf/topics/ref/statement/no-nssa-abr-edit-protocols-ospf.html

    The matter was discussed here previously: https://community.juniper.net/discussion/no-nssa-abr-question
