Hi Jason,
Packet retransmission service-policy config enables caching and retransmission for a service. One can define this for TCP, UDP, or any stream by specifying an appropriate service. If one wants to do this only for UDP packets where it makes more sense to make the service reliable then they can do so. In case of GRE encapsulated packets there is no way to determine service based on inner header type. In those cases to only enable caching and retransmission for GRE encapsulated UDP packets one can enable packet retransmission with DPI. This will prevent caching of packets that are TCP inside GRE.

Subject: New Session Resiliency Types in 4.0
Hello,
In 4.0 I see two new session resiliency options available in the service-policy config (packet-retransmission and packet-retranmission-with-dpi).
Does anyone have additional detail for how/when an administrator would want to use these?
Thanks,
Jason
