Hello,

We have a number of Juniper devices on our network, configured either by NETCONF or CLI.

At the moment we use SNMP for monitoring, but we would like to start using OpenConfig + gRPC Telemetry for that purpose.

The question we would like to answer is, given that we haven't configured the devices via OpenConfig and the existing configuration may not be compatible with that, can we use OpenConfig to monitor the devices via Telemetry.

Anyone has an idea what is the case?

Yes, this is the approach that Paragon Automation uses for some of its rules.

This is  openconfig example and uses grpc /gnmi to create the telemetry stream etc.
