Can you share your Apstra and switch versions, please?

Missing lo0.2 config suggests that the loopback for the routing-instance configured for your routing zone wasn't created. Not sure why based on this screenshot.

When you onboarded your virtual switches, did you have to ignore the pristine config validation when installing the agents?

I have a complete series for building an Apstra lab in eve-ng for 4.0.2 and 4.2.1. You can find both here. The 4.2.1 series has links to Elevate Community threads where you can download the complete companion documentation I used to record the videos.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi @cdoyle,

I just see in youtube your channel on "Apstra in eve-ng" (legacy). May i know whether i can download the slide that u show in that "legacy" as my reference.

    Thanks and appreciate your feedback

    Sure!

This is what I used to record that series. Please note that because I didn't share the deck, I also didn't edit it so it exactly matched what I do in my videos. In fact, this attachment is a scaled down version of a lab guide created by some very talented engineers in APAC a few years back. The deck for the 4.2 series I created myself using this original as a guide for sections/format.

In short, it's not a 1:1 match, but it should be good enough to help you along.

    Cheers!

    Hi Colin,

Man you are awesome. I have already followed  YouTube channel and built Apstra setup by following your videos. Really i have spent lot of time with lab setup with EVE-NG is not so simple but never give up :) .

I have never did something with pristine configs and am using Apstra 4.2.1. I am attaching multiple snapshot for your analysis. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

    With Regards.

Ah, ok. I see the problem, here.

You are using vQFX. Outright, mac-vrf isn't supported on vQFX (any version), so in video 5 (Provisioning Services) when I'm walking through the creation of a new routing zone (~2:40), I select Symmetric IRB. Symmetric IRB requires mac-vrf.

Here's the thing... I don't know if recreating the routing zone with asymmetric IRB is going to fix your problem. Apstra 4.2.1 defaults to using mac-vrf during blueprint creation according to the release docs, allowing the admin to opt-in for any existing blueprints. That is to say that whether you configure for symmetric or asymmetric irb in your routing zone may not matter since we're creating a new blueprint. Give it a try, but if that doesn't work, I think you're going to need to use vJunos for your lab and not vQFX.

    Good luck!

Did you rebuild the lab with vJunos instead of vQFX? I can't tell based on the screenshots.

Well that's a bummer... I don't really have any insights on what the "blueprint_rendering" anomaly could mean. I've searched our internal Teams chats and support cases with no hits. I've looked at the technical documentation and it only defines the schema for the error message.

My assumption is straightforward: Apstra isn't rendering the Intent defined in the Staging tab as a cli configuration that can be pushed to the fabric nodes.

Why this is happening... I'm not sure. I don't think this would be the result of any resource issues, and I'm guessing you created the Device Profiles based on my instructions.

The only thing I can think of, and I hate to suggest it... redeploy the Apstra server and start from scratch.

I had to do this once myself. It was early in the lab build testing and documentation phases of my video series when I was still hammering on vEvo trying to get the spines to work consistently. I would build and teardown blueprints daily, and I think I wasn't giving some background service enough time to finish teardown tasks before redeploying a new blueprint.

In short, I broke my Apstra server installation by doing things you would ordinarily never do in a production environment.

If I recall, I ran into very strange issues trying to build staging configuration. Different from what you are seeing, but no so much that it isn't worth trying.

I hate to even suggest it, but having never encountered the errors you are seeing in the countless labs I've built, I'm out of other ideas.
