I came accross this log file on our EX Series switches. these log files mainly show entries such as below:

I do not have ANY erp-related config on these boxes, all of these switches have either vstp or rstp enabled. to paint a better picture, ge-0/0/0-2 in this example is a simple access port for a vlan facing a PC. I reviewed most of ERP related articles here but was not able to find anything on "show log erp-default" command, or anything about erp-default indeed. 

Can someone clarify why I see these messages? What is this log file populated with by default (Please have in mind that I have NO erp-related config)?

Any information on this topic is appreciated. 

erp-default is default log file which is created under /var/log.

I've done basic testing by disabling one of UP interface and can see log getting captured under the erp-default.

Rnayar, Thank you for your assistance. so its just a default file for these sort of logs? eventhough it has nothing to do with ERP? is this even the same ERP (Ethernet ring Protection) that I know? is there a different topic/concept that goes by ERP?

Thats correct Ali.  Ethernet Ring Protection trace options are not set by default. On some EX Series switches, logging of basic ERPS state transitions is set by default.
