  • 1.  How to patch with MX304 by 10G interface ?

    Posted 02-23-2024 05:09

    Hi,

I researched a while for MX304.  Seem MX304  MX304-LMIC16 supports 10G interfaces. But I checked that the Line card only provides 400G/100G ports.

Understand this situation, it can only support 100G/40G/25G SFP. How can I use 10G SPF to connect with other device ?

Is there any module to separate 100G to 10Gx10 directly? Like MPC7E, it can use QSFP+ to divide to 4x10G ports.

    The MX304 supports the Nvidia/Mellanox MAM1Q00A-QSA QSFP+ to SFP+ adapter.  That would let you use one of the 100G ports with a 10G SFP+.  Otherwise, you'd need a 4x10G QSFP+ with a breakout cable.

    Hi,

Under this situation, each port you can choose is Like this below ?

    1. 400G/100G/40G to occupy one port.
    2. 25Gx4 to occupy one port by an adapter
    3. 10Gx4 to occupy one port by an adapter

All ports on MX304 are QSFP28/QSFP-DD. Only ports with odd numbers (located in lower row) can be used for break-out connectivity. If a port is configured for 4x10G or 4x25G speed, the port above it can't be used.

You can use Port checker tool to verify your port configuration:

The MX304 Deep Dive mentions these...

    1GE, 10GE, 25GE, 40GE, 50GE, 100GE, 200GE, 400GE

Many breakout options are mentioned also...
    2x
    3x
    4x
    8x

BTW, please let me know if you have a vendor that sells the rack mount that the 4x breakout cable mount into.  We can no longer get them and need a new source.
