  • 1.  How to change encrypt strength of root password form MD5 to SHA256 or SHA512 ?

    Hello,

    Could anyone help me for how to change encrypt strength of root password form MD5 to SHA256 or SHA512 ?

    More info as below:

    -HW: SRX340

    -OS: v23.2

    -Config: set system root-authentication encrypted-password "$1$.........."

    Hi Tokumei,

    if you set the root password with: set system root-authentication plain-text it will use SHA256 by default. 

    Also I would not recommend using 23.2 unless this is a test platform.

    Hi,

    according to password (Login) | Junos OS | Juniper Networks the password "strength" has been changed to default to sha512. So if you reentered the password as plain text it should safe it with $6$. If not please let us know and force the desired behavior by configuring this option.
