  • 1.  Computers only browse if they are in DHCP

    Hey guys,

I have a very strange incident.
I have an SRX300 with two Links, a main link and a backup.

My main link has a connection problem and the backup link took over, however the computers on this network only browse the internet if they are connected via DHCP, but on my network all computers I set a fixed IP.

    What can it be ?

I tested Link backup by connecting directly to a computer and it is browsing normally.

    Can you help me ?

    Hi Leandro,

Are your hosts able to ping out to the internet when using an IP target when they have a static IP set? (so for example 8.8.8.8)

    • If yes: then the issue is probably that you'll also need to manually set a DNS server on your hosts. Or maybe you are using the DNS server of your main link provider and they are not permitting a connection from a foreign IP (assuming your backup link is from a different provider). You can try testing by setting it to a public DNS like 1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8 or 9.9.9.9.
    • If also no, then maybe you have a misconfiguration in your IP settings. Maybe you've misconfigured the subnet mask, or maybe you have the wrong default gateway IP configured? (good way to test is to see if you can ping the IP set as default gateway, assuming you've permitted this in your SRX security-zone configuration)
