  • 1.  bpdu-block doesn't drop vstp

    Hi

    Model: ex4600-40f
    Junos: 21.4R3-S4.18

Configuration: 3 * EX4600 in triangle topology, RSTP enabled on
triangle interfaces only. All other interfaces are without any STP, with
"protocols layer2-control bpdu-block interface XXX drop" protection.

The EX2300 is connected to one of the bpdu-block protected interface.
In EX2300 conf: "protocols vstp interface all; vlan 1; vlan all".

In EX2300 log tons of lines appear:
    l2cpd[xxxx]: TOPO_CH: for VLAN xxxx in routing-instance
    default received on port xxx

The issue disapeared when I've set "protocols vstp interface <uplink>
    disable".

What's more fun, the problem doesn't appear with original Cisco
with PVST enabled on uplink interface. ;)

    Any ideas?

    Additional explanation:

In "l2cpd[xxxx]: TOPO_CH: for VLAN xxxx in routing-instance
default received on port xxx" the "port xxx" is the uplink port.

    Hi Boguslaw,

VSTP and RSTP are the only spanning-tree protocols that can be configured concurrently on a device. They will operate independently and will not interact or interfere with each other. This is by design and it is recommended to enable both when in a mixed environment to allow RSTP to capture topologies not supported under a vlan.

    Regards,.

    Hi Gavin,

In my concept I'would like to drop any BPDU packet on selected interfaces. So I've set "protocols layer2-control bpdu-block interface XXX drop". And it works, except vstp. I don't need any interaction between spanning tree on these switches.
