Junos OS

Hi,

I just upgraded firmware on EX2300 from 15.1X53-D59.4 to 18.1R3.3

and 1Gb uplink port stop working (stop flashing). 

Of course I tried reboot switch and replace SFP transceiver.

PRODUCT NUMBER: SFP-1GE-T

PART NUMBER: 740-038291

Anyone can help me resolve this issue?

I just test another supported on EX switches SFP module and I have the same problem:

Also I analyzed log messages:

Insert SFP to 0/1/0 port:

testswitch01 fpc0 Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/0

after reboot switch:

testswitch01 fpc0 Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/0

testswitch01 kernel: if_msg_ifd_add: l2_count in add (0), for ifd:ge-0/1/0

testswitch01 dc-pfe: Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/0

testswitch01 fpc0 Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/0

Insert another SFP to port 0/1/2:

testswitch01 kernel: if_msg_ifd_add: l2_count in add (0), for ifd:ge-0/1/2

testswitch01 dc-pfe: Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/2

testswitch01 fpc0 Error tvp_led_port_init: Failed to get led config for port 1/2

When I insert/remove RJ45 cable into SFP then nothing appear in logs.

LEDs on SFP also not light/flashing.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I'm experiencing the same issue.  Was working fine before upgrading to 18.1R3.3.

i know this seems strange but can you make sure you have the rescue config set:

>request system configuration rescue save

then check if that clears the issue,

unfortunately problem is still exist.

And

doesn't help.

I think it is a bug but I haven't maintenance for this switch and I can't rise a ticket in JTAC.

Please try upgrading to Junos 18.1R3-S1, which is latest SR based on 18.1R3.3, and check if it resolves your issue.

To download SR release, please select "Junos SR" in OS drop-down menu on download page.

Thank you but on Juniper  download page I see that the latest version for ex2300 is 18.1R3-S2.

I didn't try install other software because Juniper still recommend 18.1R3.

Could you confirm that 18.1R3-S2 are stable version?

Good news! The 18.1R3-S2 firmware fixed the issue and now EX-SFP-1GE-T working as well.

Thank you for help but please your recomendation about 18.1R3-S2 - somebody could confirm that this version of firmware is safe and stable while recommended version by Juniper is still 18.1R3 ?

Difference between 18.1R3-S2 and 18.1R3 is that 18.1R3-S2 has a number of PRs fixed on top of 18.1R3.

Same issue with 19.1R1-S1

Same issue with 18.1R3-S4 (currently JTAC recommended)
