I have recently upgrade the Junos on my SRX to JUNOS 12.1X46-D86 built 2019-04-04 and ever since I am not able to log back into JWEB. I can get to the login page but when I try the credentials I use to login to SSH with it keeps telling me incorrect username and password. I have tried factory resetting the device, as well as zeroizing the system with no luck. I am afraid I will have to unistall Jweb and reinstall it, problem with that is I am not able to find the Jweb software for an SRX due to the EOL. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
As per my knowledge, SRX never had a separate jweb package.
It should already be included in the JunOS.
I am assuming that you are able to ssh into the device.
Please check the interfaces configuration under "system services web-management http/https" .
It will be helpful if you can share the relevant section of the configuration.
I see the same issue on an SRX running 12.1X46-D86. After upgrade, J-web login fails, while SSH works fine. J-Web shows the following message- Invalid username or password specified - both for root as well as non-root user login attempts.
May 18 10:21:19 SRX checklogin: warning: can't get client address: Bad file descriptor
May 18 10:21:19 SRX checklogin: WEB_AUTH_FAIL: Unable to authenticate httpd client (username root)
May 18 10:21:35 SRX checklogin: warning: can't get client address: Bad file descriptor
May 18 10:21:35 SRX checklogin: WEB_AUTH_FAIL: Unable to authenticate httpd client (username pradeep)
May 18 10:22:08 SRX sshd: unlink(): failed to delete .perm file: No such file or directory
May 18 10:22:08 SRX sshd: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for pradeep from 10.10.10.1 port 54074 ssh2

Seems to be an issue with this particular Junos version. Will update this thread later, if there is any fix.
This is confirmed to be an issue with Software, for now no workarounds other than Software fix.
In the previous version (12.1X46-D82), we do not have this issue , could login to J-web.
can you do show system core-dumps to verify if there was any outout related to httpd process crashed. we can try restarting httpd process using command "restart web-management"
There will be no core dumps. Restarting web-management does not help here. No other workaround it seems, only solution is software fix (checking the possibility of D87)
I am stuck with the same issue.
It's been several months since there is no fixTo use the Jweb interface which version should I install?
Hello, what is the SRX model in question. are you at the JTAC recommended version for that particular model.
Hello msheikoh and happy new year,
As my part the model is SRX240, the first version
The JTAC recommended version is 12.1X46-D86/junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D86-domestic.tgz but there is a bug with the Jweb authentification. The ssh works fine.
Basically this is End of Life and End of Support (even end of entended support to my knowledge) so I'd very much doubt there will be a patch for this anytime soon or at all.
All I would recommend is following the downgrade JunOS procedure to 12.1X46-D82 but check the release notes for that just in case for functionality in case you need something given in the D86 release.
I know it's an old post. but just to confirm for someone else in future.Same here with SRX240 with 12.1X46-D86, no J-web access `Invalid username or password specified. ` and redirects to `http://Devce_IP_Address/servererror.php?code=401` The SRX240 suppose to take in one last newer sub-version of the firmware above but the device refuses to do so.
Sad destiny of a nice device.
