I have an old pair of SRX100B that I have at my home. I would like to reinstall Junos on them because they are issuing disk-related errors when booting up and one of them reboots constantly. I have a copy of the Junos version that was installed on them (12.1X46-D65.4) on a USB. When I attempt to follow the procedure for installing via the loader prompt, everything is fine until a certain point:

    Starting JUNOS installation:
    Source Package: disk1:/junos-srxsme-12.1X46-D65.4-domestic.tgz
    Target Media : internal
    Product : srx100b
ERROR: Source media /dev/da1s1 does not exist

At this point, the system starts the shutdown process and reboots. My flash is a 16GB flash. I can't help but think that the way my flash is partitioned might be the reason here. I formatted it using a Mac and the diskutil/newfs_msdos commands:

    diskutil zerodisk /dev/disk2

    sudo newfs_msdos -F 16 /dev/disk2

    diskutil mount /dev/disk2

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Since the device is currently running you could try this procedure.

Create a snapshot of the device onto the usb drive
request system snapshot media usb partition

copy the installer file to the usb var/tmp

    Reboot to the snapshot
    request system reboot media usb

Do the install to the internal drive with disk format option
