we have JA2500 space node running old software version 15.1 and I needs to upgarde is to latest space version 18.2 and I know its step by step process to reach 18.2.
How I can proceed with this upgrade , should I go through applications and start upgrading from Network Management Platform and then security director and then Logging.
Can we do this to upgarde as globally which can also upgrade these three applications instead going through one by one upgrading applications.
From 15.1, you first need to go on 15.2R2 (You will have to upgrade your SD application on 15.2) and then from 15.2 to 16.1, it is a different upgrade as mentioned in below doc.
Once you are on 16.1, you will again have to upgrade your SD application to compatible release.

16.1 > 17.1 > 18.2 along with its applications.
Always check for compatibility in release notes for respective application releases.

Yes, SD = Security Director, it will install/upgrade its sub-applications listed below.

First, you will have to upgrade Network Management application to 15.2R2 using below link:

So when I upgrade Network Management Application from 15.1 to 15.2R2 it stays on below message and not progressing further. Is there any step I am missing. I am upgrading to 15.2R2.img

Fixed this was maintenance password issue.
I upgraded from 15.1R1 to 15.2R2 and then rebooted through maintennce page.
Now still I cant see login page after reboot space came back up, If I exit maintenance page but still its not exiting from maintenance page. Now I needs to upgrade security director as per procedure but cant get out of maintenance page.
Thanks I sorted it out after restarting jboss servive from CLI.

How I can perform Space Data Backup mentioned in upgrade document.
So this backup means all the firewall rules and NAT rules addresses and services backing up.
Or the DB Backup like My SQL and other services backup.
From Document I cant find the directory below directories, I can go till cd /var/cache/ but no space-backup-restore inside

Then only you can see /var/cache/space-backup-restore
This backup will contain all space data.
Actually I already run that patch and got below response.

You are running a wrong patch, the one you ran is hot patch, you should run 15.2R2.2-SpaceUpgradeBackup.tgz.

Since I dont have FTP server so can can I use winscp software to copy backup files from space to my computre.
and 2ndly after backup process space gone under maintenance page and not in normal login page.
Going into maintenance mode is normal as it stop jboss service, you can exit from maintenance mode after your backup is complete.
Now I can see its coming up.
So Can I do WinScp from space to my local computer like simpe copy and paste files from space to my computer through WINScp as I dont have FTP server and not on the site to connect USB.
Yes, while backup give the location of your junos space server itself (2.Remote SCP server)and once the backup is complete using winscp copy backup file to your local machine.
For 16.1 upgrade, you will have to re-image the junos space box using USB and while deployment you will get an option to restore this 15.2R2 backup, refer 16.1 upgrade doc above.
So what server port shoud I use as It asks for server port for backup data

You can absolutely take the backup via SCP. On a JA-2500, you can also do so via USB. Now I will upgrade till 17.2 only and wait for 18.2 security director to be released and then will move to 18.2 release.
Just question, how many types of backup I needs. I already took one backup by running spacebackup patch file.
I needs to have backup of existing configurations like addresses , services , NAT and firewall polcies.
And 2nd backup of space itself like SQL and other applications settings to operate the space normally.

You just need one backup from using spacebackup patch file which you have already taken I guess.

I am upgrading junos space to 18.2 version and currenty stuck at 16.1 version. I am getting issue with backinup Database and getting bellow error even though Data base exist on right location, Any idea please

- Install 16.1 and select to restore the 15.2.R2 backup (this will upgrade 15.2 backup to 16.1)
Which step you are following from the doc ?
I was able to backup it and was able to see everything.
Then I tried to upgrade it to 19.1R1 from 18.4R1 but this was completed successfully.
when I ssh it I can see 19.1R1 version but I cant access WEB GUI , I restarted all services amny time but still cant access WEB GUI.
Any idea what could be the issue why WEB GUI is not working with version 19.1R1, I was able to access WEB GUI in version 18.4R1.

Getting error on browser that Connection not found
After restarting httpd service , I can access WEB GUI
when I reboot space , why I need to restart all servives manully through CLI like jboss, httpd and mysql.
These services should be started automatically right after rebooting space.
After I connected junos space in network , all devices shows down under device management.
when I tried to discover devices , its successfully done shows me that device is already managed
but when I look under device management all devices showing down.
