    I'm presuming no, but I was wondering if there was a way to configure MST such that there were VLANs, while not mapped to any instance, ALSO were not mapped to instance 0 (the CST instance).  Basically a VLAN that was completely unimpacted by STP operations.

    If you simply do NOT include any of the interfaces in the vlan you want to include in the mstp protocol then the vlan will NOT participate in MSTP.

     

    Only interfaces configure here do.

    protocols mstp

    Thanks for the reply, also if the VLAN isn't configured on the switch that MSTI instance is sort of orphaned...it makes a bit of a cluttered MSTI config, but it works.
