    Hi,

Is there any juniper preference or recommendation for underlay routing protocol for vxlan-evpn core (small size 40-50 leafs)

I keep hearing juniper professionals enforcing to use eBGP, even if it is a small size network. Any specific reason for that other than scaling ?

Why is OSPF/ISIS discouraged as underlay by Juniper. ?

    Hi,

I think it's just a matter of scaling. ISIS I wouldn't do because it's mainly used by service providers, not in DC's. So, it might be harder to hire engineers when necessary. I don't see why OSPF shouldn't work for the underlay.

i come from cisco background and have seen widely practiced ospf as underlay due to ease of deployment and avoiding lots of p2p IPs (thanks to unnumberd IP)

i didnt find any official juniper statement discouraging ospf, it was just verbally advised by juniper engineers.

OSPF or BGP in the underlay,  both support use of multiple paths between the loopbacks. This what most Juniper docs cover.  It a shame you choose to be Anonymous.
