I am seeing this minor alarm on my MX480 router. Has anyone else come across something like this or can help with an explanation for same?

    Hello Raphael,

The " IIC Access Error" alarm is raised by the Routing Engine to notify any I2C errors. Even if an error is injected for a field-replaceable unit (FRU), the alarm would be raised from the CB perspective, indicating that there is an IIC Access Error.

The IIC error alarms are cleared after 24 hours and usually doesn't require any action

However if you keep seeing logs for these alarms they could be related to temperature , current or voltage sensors.  These alerts happen whenever the I2C requests fail to respond in time.

In my case, the errors stopped appearing after 24 hours, repeated for few days and then disappeared. I would suggest plz monitor the logs for few days and check if the alarm is reappearing. If still present i would recommend to switch the routing engine to other CB slot in order to check if the issue is with RE or CB.

    Hope this helps!
