Hi Ali,
Short answer, there is no restriction regarding lower-scale MPCs with an enhanced midplane chassis.
Basically the midplane is just PCB making RE, SCB's and MPC able to communicate.
The enhanced versions supports higher data throughputs but is the same logic so it more depends on the MPCs and fabric cards in regards to compatibility.
So everything down to MPC2E-NG will work together with enhanced midplane - basically your limitation is the need for SCBE3
You can use this url for initial validation of your options:

Subject: MX960 Enhanced Midplane
Hi
As far as we know there are two types of Midplanes for MX Routers(specifically MX960):
1- Normal Midplane
2- Enhanced Midplane
An enhanced midplane is required if we want to use MPC10E cards with full capacity.
I want to ask can we use this midplane with other types of cards for example MPC7E without any issue? since the information about Enhanced Midplane is scarce. and is there any restriction in this regard?
Thank you
