  • 1.  Unexpected reboot reason on EX2300-MP switches

    Hi Community,

we have around 10x Switches model EX2300-48MP deployed as virtual-chassis.
Some of them are unexpectedly rebooted, showing the odd reboot reason "reset-button reset". It is odd as the EX2300-48MP has no reset button !
has anyone encountered the same ?

I had this exact problem and it drove me crazy. Eventually found out there is a problem that affects the EX2300 MP models when they are shippped with a specific FPGA firmware version, and this causes the complete random reboots, sometimes with the strange reset-button reason.

There is a PR for it, PR1579576,  and KB article explaining how to fix it (https://kb.juniper.net/TSB18018), essentially you just have to upgrade the FPGA code, this requires the power cable to be physically pulled from the box though.

Never had the issue again after this.
