  • 1.  QFX5120-48Y not recognising 10GE-T SFP

    Posted 04-07-2022 10:13

    A colleague has an issue with a 5120 and 10GE-T SFP's.

When 10G-SR optics are in sfp-0/0/6 the port is up and SFP shows in 'show chassis hardware'

When 10G-T SFP inserted the following logs are generated:

    Apr 7 18:35:40 SW-01 fpc0 FAILED(-1) read of SFP eeprom for port: 6
    Apr 7 18:35:40 SW-01 fpc0 sfp-0/0/6(6), SFP 6: in sfp_read_range, failed to read SFP EEPROM address 0
    Apr 7 18:35:41 SW-01 fpc0 Unknown transceiver type. Set to default OC3C
    Apr 7 18:35:41 SW-01 fpc0 sfp-0/0/6(6), SFP 6: unknown OC3 optic type 0

And SFP details are not shown under show chassis hardware.

    JUNOS Version 20.2R3.9 Flex.

Juniper branded SR and 10G-T SFPS

    QFX-SFP-10GE-SR Part Number: 740-021308

    JNP-SFPP-10GE-T Part Number: 740-083295

    Many thanks

    Hi James,

Have you been able to solve this problem ?
I'm facing a similar issue with an EX4600 and 10GE-T SFPs

    Thanks

    Hi all,

    I have now sorted this.

Even though it was a new switch, the Firmware version was 19.1  and I found out that the JNP-SFPP-10G-T modules were only supported in 19.3 and newer.

Updating the switch to (in my case 22.2R3) fixed the issue.

    thanks

    Paul
