FXPC Process Eating CPU

  • 1.  FXPC Process Eating CPU

    Posted 11-05-2018 02:57

    Hey guys,

i just buy 2x qfx 3500 and run them as Virtual Chassis. There is no Traffic load yet but i see high cpu usage from the fxpc process

    "1583 root        2 -52  -52   579M   109M umtx   0  36.7H 37.55% fxpc"
the question is, why it used upto 50% cpu and for what works this FXPC process.

Also i have huge Ping times upto 300ms, never seen it before at Juniper devices where is no load at all

    Thanks

Can you provide the complete output "show system processes extensive | except 0.00" and show virtual-chassis?

    VCP stable?

    Regards,

    Rahul

There is a thread in the code related to the 40G interfaces where it run at 500ms which cause the CPU to run high on the QFX3500 due to its process. As a workaround, you can execute below command under the shell.

    start shell user root

root@:RE:0% cprod -A fpc0 -c 'set dcbcm bcmshell "counter off"'

    Regards,

    Rahul

The usage goes down to 15% and the ping times are mutch better. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Rahul,

Does this trick solve the issue in EX3400s as well?

    Best Regards,

    Supun

    Hi Supun,

You need to provide below output to understand if it's same or different. Please feel free to open new thread with below output

    start shell
    vty fpc0
    show syslog messages
    show threads
    show threads cpu
    show threads verbose

Is there a way to essentially "undo" this command, this disabled all monitoring/snmp graphing of inbound traffic on all interfaces. I tried setting "counter on" but this did not work.
