    Hi Everyone,

The objective is monitor the static default route next-hop reachability, like cisco IOS ip sla.

Does anyone try to configure RPM on MX480 ? if it is no support , what is the work around ?

    Thank you,

    Meng Kiat

ip-monitoring is not supported on MX as far as i know. you can try bfd with static route.

    Hi,

RPM probe {Real-Time Performance Monitoring] is equivalent to IP SLA in Juniper. Many customers configure it on MXdevices and it is supported.

You can refer to below tech pubs for more details and configuration.

Yes, RPM is supported on MX but as i said above, service ip-monitoring is not supported on MX which can be used to monitor the static default route next-hop reachability

We can use BFD or any script which can monitor the next-hop availability and switch to qualified next-hop in if primary next-hop is unreachable.

If you have any other idea, please share

    Dear all,

Today I am facing the same issue while I am migrating Cisco router to Juniper MX. I am struggling with IP SLA. When I try the RPM command on Juniper MX but it does not support like Juniper SRX. After researching, I found this blog which said Juniper MX support RPM with version 18.4

    https://iliketech2017.wordpress.com/2019/04/23/static-route-tracking-with-junos-rpm-tracking/

Then I found one more link from Juniper website.

    - Support introduced in Junos OS Release 18.4 R1.

    - Support for multiple next hops added in Junos OS Release 19.1 R1.

    https://www.juniper.net/documentation/en_US/junos/topics/reference/configuration-statement/routing-options-rpm-tracking.html

    Cheers,
