  • 1.  On May 4, 2019, there will be a new JNCIS-ENT exam - what are the differences?

I want to prepare myself for the JNCIS-ENT exam.

    I read that:

On May 4, 2019, there will be a new exam for the Juniper Networks Certified Enterprise Routing and Switching Specialist (JNCIS-ENT) certification.  The new Enterprise Routing and Switching, Specialist exam code is JN0-348.

    See also:

It appears to be that the JNO-347 exam concerns,

    Software Release:

    • Junos OS release 15.1 for SRX Series
    • Junos OS release 17.1 for the EX Series
    • Junos Space Network Director 3.0

And the new JN0-348 exam concerns,

    Software Release:

    • Junos 18.4
    • Junos Space Network Director 3.1

That sounds as bad news to me because I am trained and experienced with the old releases and I am using:

    • Junos Enterprise Switching – student Guide volume 1 and 2 – Revision 17.of 2017.
    • Junos JNCIS-ENT Routing Study Guide of 2012 for the JNO-343 exam.

I want to plan my exam JNCIS-ENT in June 2019. It seems to me that for the new JNO-348 exam new Student Guides are needed. Do I have a problem?

What are the differences between the old and the new versions, manuals and exams?

What is your advice to prepare for the JN0-348 exam?

    With regards,

    Jean

I cannot say anything official but my own perspective will be that not much has changed in regards to switching from Junos 17.1 to 18.4 so the student guide should cover the same subjects.

I will not expect any major changes in regards to routing either.

For more official input, I would suggest sending an email to training@juniper.net.

As mentioned earlier I hereby publish the answers of the JNCP Team to my questions. See the red coloured text:

I want to plan my exam JNCIS-ENT in June 2019. It seems to me that for the new JNO-348 exam new Student Guides are needed. Do I have a problem?

Juniper: There are currently no free ‘student guides’ for the JN0-348 as there were with the old exam. You are referring student guides that were part of Fast Track which ended in 2017.

What are the differences between the old and the new versions, manuals and exams?

Juniper: You can view the difference in the objectives for both the JN0-347 and JN0-348 on the link I provided in the below email https://www.juniper.net/us/en/training/certification/certification-tracks/ent-routing-switching-track/?tab=jncis-enterprise.

What is your advice to prepare for the JN0-348 exam?

Juniper: The best preparation tools are the classes (which is the recommended training in the previous email) that are available through Education Services…either in a classroom, live online, or through our On-Demand training offerings. Also, I’d suggest using the Junos Genius platform as it has a number of excellent resources related to the JNCIS-ENT.

I've gone through the exam objectives and compared this with the old fast track study guides which were aligned to the JNO-343 exam, and 98% of the topics look to be covered in those study guides. That said, when I come to start preparing for this exam I will also be checking out the Junos Genius library and day 1 docs to fill in any gaps.

Is this a good way to prepare?

Yes, reviewing the topic list in both the original study guides and Junos Genius modules is a great way to prepare.

The exam in Junos Genius can also let you know where you stand.

Just bear in mind that the exam has only one pool of questions so don't take it repeatedly as you will only just memorize those answers.  hit the exam after you have done a lot of studying and use it as a guage to how close you are to being ready for the real exam.
