That's not true - vQFX is dead as well.
Replacements are:
vJunOS-Switch, vJunOS-Router, vJunOS-Evo
The new v-Devices are the counterparts of the EX / MX and work fine.

Looks like vMX is End of Life
End of Life Announcement: MX150, VMX, VMX Transform SKUs
Someone at Juniper probably probably decided that selling boxes with software was more profitable than selling only software...
But vSRX (and vQFX) still exist.

Subject: Why is Juniper Getting Rid of vMX? Can I Use vSRX Instead?
I'm currently studying for Knox Hutchinson's JNICS-SP course through CBT Nuggets, and I want to lab along with the course content. However, I've noticed that vMX devices are no longer available for download on Juniper's website.
Does anyone know why Juniper is phasing out vMX?
Is vSRX a suitable alternative for service provider labs, or should I explore something else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
