  • 1.  Why is Juniper Getting Rid of vMX? Can I Use vSRX Instead?

    I'm currently studying for Knox Hutchinson's JNICS-SP course through CBT Nuggets, and I want to lab along with the course content. However, I've noticed that vMX devices are no longer available for download on Juniper's website.

    Does anyone know why Juniper is phasing out vMX?
    Is vSRX a suitable alternative for service provider labs, or should I explore something else?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    In my case, I just deployed PnetLab + iShare2. This method will allow you to download and install any kvm based appliances (including vMX/vSRX/vQFX) you want straight into PnetLab. Find out how to do this and you will be good to go :)

    I have set up an EVE-NG environment in my laptop and I have an old version of vMX running on it. But the issue is I need an evaluation version to test some features. 

    Looks like I'll need a bare metal server to install vjunos router. It can't be used in a vm environment like how vMX works.

    Is that a dodgy copy of eve-ng ?  Eve-ng community is free, and the images are free from Juniper.  I pay for the pro, it is not a lot of money considering.

    Even if you have the EVE-NG Pro, there is no way to use an evaluation copy of vMX because it's not available in the site anymore.
