Yes, typically when a Junos release is pulled there is a software bug that is more serious and they want to prevent further distribution of it.
The SRX platforms at the lower numbers are branch series using standard cpu based forwarding while the larger numbers have either broadcom forwarding chips or Juniper custom silicon.
Since the release is only pulled at the branch level the bug is likely forwarding related and only affects that series.

Subject: Where is Junos OS Release 23.2R1?
It has been suggested that all 23 releases have now been withdrawn for the SRX300 series of devices. You can, however, still obtain 23.2 for the SRX1500, but the 23.1 release has also been withdrawn for this model. This suggests some kind of issue an/or limitation associated with lower-end devices in the SRX range and the latest Junos releases.

Subject: Where is Junos OS Release 23.2R1?
Whilst it has been announced, I cannot find the latest 23 release (as above) in the appropriate section for my SRX devices (320, 340), only 22 releases. 23.1 was there until very recently, so it seems all 23 releases are currently unavailable at the moment. Can anyone shed any light please?
