vQFX ping failed across direct connected link

    Should be a simple question, maybe I missed something and need help desperately. Setting up vQFX with either 17.4 or 18.4 image within eve-ng, but never able to ping across the link. What did I miss? Much appreciate it!!!

    vQFX:

    delete interface
    set interfaces em1 unit 0 family inet address 169.254.0.2/24
    set interfaces xe-0/0/0 unit 0 family inet address 192.168.1.2/24

    root> show chassis fpc
