Chiming in on this topic as I have some experience and frustration with it.
ISSU or NSSU in general, has never worked for me on numerous different switch models, including EX4600, QFX5120. I do have EX4100 installed now across campus, only doing layer 2 so maybe...it might work. I have not tried it. I might setup a couple in my lab just to see if it works and report back here.
I even opened a TAC case for the QFX5120. Support stated NSSU or ISSU wasn't supported on the platform in a virtual chassis configuration.
There seems to be a lot of conflicting documentation on the subject, and I would like to know if anyone here has successfully executed NSSU or ISSU on any platform.

That link discusses what to do if the update fails. Oddly, the document provides a link about how NSSU works on EX switches, but it says I don't have the privileges to view that document.

For EX4100 and NSSU, Google suggests this to me...

I did some searching, and the NSSU upgrade does not list our 4100s as being a switch capable of using those steps. Is there a way to perform the upgrade, one VC member at a time, and not impact traffic? It's a VC between the SRXes and the ISP fibers, so it is rather important not to impact traffic, or I have to schedule an after-hours window.
I have updated it via the Mist dashboard, and it worked, but it took 8 minutes to reboot with the installed version.
