    Hi,

    I am planning to upgrade an SRX320 device located at a remote site from Junos OS 15.1X49-D150.2 to Junos OS 23.4R2-S3.
     
    Given that the device is in a remote location with no on-site technical personnel, I would appreciate your guidance on the following:
     
    • The safest method to perform the upgrade remotely, ensuring that I maintain connectivity and minimize the risk of losing access to the device.
    • The recommended upgrade path, including any required intermediate versions or "jump" upgrades necessary to move from 15.1X49-D150.2 to 23.4R2-S3 in a supported and stable manner.

    Hello,

    As the device is in remote location, I would suggest to do the upgrade using console so that you can monitor the boot process. 

    The upgrade path would be: 

     15.1X49 --> 19.4 --> 20.4 --> 21.4 --> 22.3 --> 23.4

    Thank you for your response and for outlining the upgrade path.
     
    Just to clarify-would it be possible to skip some of the intermediate versions and jump from 19.4 directly to 22.x or 23.x, assuming Juniper confirms that up to three version jumps are supported and safe?

    Hello Hemin,

    Based on the tests performed in Juniper labs, the possible shorter path for SRX320 from Junos OS 15.1X49-D150.2 to Junos OS 23.4R2-S3 is:

    15.1X49-D150.2 > 21.4R3 > 23.4R2

    Note: The suggested shorter upgrade path is tested with minimum software and hardware configuration in Juniper lab. We suggest you to test with your actual software and hardware configuration before upgrading in the field.
