  • 1.  SRX1500 OS upgrade failed 15.1X49-D150.2 to 18.4R3-S4.2

    Happy New Year!

    I want to upgrade my customer's SRX1500 device from 15.1X49-D150.2 to 18.4R3-S4.2.

     
    I know from KB that direct upgrade from 15.1X49 version to 18.4R3 version is possible.
     
    However, when customer enter the command 'request system software add /var/tmp/ junos-srxjcp-18.4R3-S4.2.tgz no-validate reboot', it fails with the following error message.

    ERROR: Primary media (ad3) is smaller than 256MB minimum.
    ERROR: junos-18.4R3-S4.2 fails requirements check
    Installation failed for package '/var/tmp/junos-srxjcp-18.4R3-S4.2.tgz'
    ==========================================================================================
    I get the same error even when using the 'request system storage cleanup' command.
     
    Can anyone tell me a solution?

    Hello Jaesung,

    Thanks for reaching out.  The image used for upgrade shows 'srxjcp-18.4R3-S4.2.tgz'. The image available on Juniper Support Portal is 'srxentedge-x86-64-18.4R3-S2.tgz'. I am unsure whether the image being used for upgrade is the correct one. Could you you please use the link mentioned below to download the image and use it for the upgrade.

    Go to the link >> Select OS as 'Junos SR' >> Select "18.4" as Version >> Download the image that is available

    If this does not work, please raise a proactive JTAC case for upgrade which should be possible either through the portal or by dialling in the JTAC helpline numbers.

    We just upgraded from 15.1X49 to image junos-srxsme-19.4R3.11.tgz.

    Release notes state that 16,17,18 revs are all interim and bundled up to 19.4R3.   We have done multiple clusters / pairs with no issues. -hth
