    Hello

I  have  MX240LNS  support PPPoE on the subinterface   but the problem that juniper don't support using a different MAC addresses defined on aggregated ethernet logical interfaces

so please i want expert network help me for this problem   if  there  a  propose an alternative solution / or other solution that allows getting the MAC address under AE subinterfaces?

    I  wait a reply

    regards

Need Fixed mac for aggregate ae0 interface | Junos OS (juniper.net)

The first link I sent explains the way the addresses are allocated.  If you need them to be static, see this article.  It explains how to set it, and you can pick a private address on your own, such as AA:BB:CC:00:00:00.

The private addresses available are specified here:

    Black Manticore

    Hello

No i want to assign mac address to subinterface for mx240  mean

    Ae5.3 with mac address

    And not ae interface physique

So i want to konw if we have a solution for this problem for mx240 lns

    Thanks

There is no option to set MAC address for logical unit of a physical or LAG interface.

You can specify separate MAC addresses on logical units only for IRB interface, but I'm not sure if LNS can be configured over IRB.

Ok , thanks  for your reply

Just i have the last question :     in this case, we cannot do PPPoE on the subinterface

could you please  propose an alternative solution / or other solution that allows getting the MAC address under AE subinterfaces  instead   PPPoE on the subinterface  for MX240  LNS

    i wait a reply

    best regards

AFAIK, LNS is not terminating PPPoE sessions directly, but only those received via L2TP from LAC. Usually IP address of LNS is terminated on it's loopback, not physical interface/subinterface, hence I am not sure what you want to achieve. Maybe if you could provide more information and reasoning behind requirement of having dedicated MAC addresses on logical units of AE interface on LNS, then we could think of something.

    set interfaces ae0 unit 0  mac ?

MX240  with PPPOE  does not support address max  by subinterface

so  if there a solution instead  PPPOE   that allow configure mac address by ae.5  ?

    this is the problem

    just  do you  think

alternative solution / or other solution that allows getting the MAC address under AE subinterfaces  instead   PPPoE on the subinterface  for MX240  LNS

Can you use vlans on the AE, make it trunk port, and use IRB with dedicated MAC addresses?

    Sorry  I don't use MX.
