  • 1.  PIC stuck in offline state

    Posted 08-30-2024 13:34

I have a PIC in slot 2 (10X10GE SFPP) that is currently in an offline state and have not been able to restore it to an online state.

     show chassis fpc pic-status
    Slot 0   Online       MPC Type 2 3D
      PIC 0  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
      PIC 1  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
    Slot 1   Online       MPC Type 2 3D
      PIC 0  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
      PIC 1  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
    Slot 2   Online       MPC Type 2 3D
      PIC 0  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
      PIC 1  Online       10x 1GE(LAN) SFP
      PIC 2  Offline      10X10GE SFPP

I have tried moving it to a different slot in a new MPC identical but no change in status. Also issued the command "request chassis mic online mic-slot 1 fpc-slot 2" but that did not turn on the card either. I've rebooted the chassis as well and didn't work either.

Any thought's as to what might be causing the issue with not being able to return the card to an online state?

You can try to get the reasons for the offline status by adding detail to the fpc specific command.   If the card and pic was online and went offline they may well be a hardware failure.

    show chassis fpc 2 detail
    Slot 2 information:
      State                               Online
      Temperature                      34 degrees C / 93 degrees F
      Total CPU DRAM                 2048 MB
      Total RLDRAM                    662 MB
      Total DDR DRAM                 2560 MB
      Start time                          2024-08-30 16:06:58 EDT
      Uptime                              3 days, 6 hours, 4 minutes, 27 seconds
      Max power consumption            227 Watts

The card was online in the current hardware configuration and had been working for a couple of years. All of a sudden, the ports stopped working on this PIC and didn't show a power or link lights on any of the ports. We took a spare FPC that was identical from a spare chassis and put it in the next available slot and moved the PIC but didn't change the result. We had an identical spare PIC that was inserted into the FPC in an offline state in the same slot and no change. Also tried rebooting and power cycling the whole chassis.

    Hi,

PIC 10x10G just compatible with MPC3E only.

    Thanks

    Hello Darron,

As I understand you're trying to put MIC3-3D-10XGE-SFPP into MPC2E-3D which is not supported configuration.

    Here's a list of supported MPCs for MIC3-3D-10XGE-SFPP: https://apps.juniper.net/hct/model/?component=MIC3-3D-10XGE-SFPP&tab=sComponents

    Regards,

    Wojciech
