  • 1.  NTP Broadcast / Broadcast-client

    Good morning folks,

I have been doing some reading, studying and labbing. I have been trying for the last couple of days to get the NTP broadcast/broadcast-client working between three vMX routers. I also have a Cisco router in there as well. This is all mocked up in EVE-NG.

    1) R1 is the Broadcast server. It has the simple configuration under the system/ntp stanza

"broadcast 10.10.1.255" <----broadcast address of subnet

    2) R2 and R3 have the "broadcast-client" configured - that is all under the system/ntp stanza.

    3) R4 is Cisco router set up as an ntp c;lient as well and configured under the interface connected to the network  to be a broadcast client

I am able to see NTP packets on each wire with source 10.10.1.1 ----->> 10.10.1.255 for R2, R3 and R4 from R1 when capturing packets.

R4 which is the Cisco router picks up the broadcast packet and syncs its clock - R2 and R3 nothing.

Has anyone been able to get this broadcast/broadcast-client config  to work ?

    Thank you for your time,

    Raul

tried with physical switches and result is same.

Cisco switch client can sync but Juniper one cannot. Junos is version 24.

i'm inclined to believe this feature is either incomplete or bugged.
