For the 5 years I've been watching Mist connections, the icons have been a blue Bluetooth symbol for BLE connections and a purple "people" icon for wifi clients. All of my schools still have those icons but our two high schools. One high school has 3 maps and only the center map with the highest density of users is different and our other high school with just one map is the same. I now have purple circles for wifi clients and blue circles for Bluetooth clients. They take up more space on the map than the normal icons so I end up with just blobs of color in crowded rooms.  Since the menu to select what to display is a global setting, I don't see  any way it could be a site setting. 

Have you run into this?

There is an enhancement for the the live view and this simplifies the view where you can select the settings as per your preferred view. I have attached the required pictures which you can refer for settings and Beta view.

I'm not using the beta version. As you can see on the screenshot you posted, the the icons for clients are not colored circles. Yet on my two biggest schools that's how they show.
