Some 14 years on and this article (KB19813) is still not clear (e.g. MB and Mbps are used interchangeably), can someone clarify the calculation please?

    Hi

I can't access the article, but I may share burst-size-rate-limit calculation method.

Determining Proper Burst Size for Traffic Policers

IF speed  is represented 100M"bps", so you need to divide by 8.   You specify  burst-size-rate-limit within bytes.

The article is, as you mentioned, not very clear. I have made a change request so it can be corrected. I guess the best way to determine the burst size you want is by trial and error as so many parameters can influence the behaviour. A calculated base value seems like a good starting point, though, and I guess that should be the intention of the article. The article Ryota Kosaka mentioned is more detailed but seems based on the old, old M routers (and current MX) where burst-period is available too. The EX or SRX do not have this option.
