  • 1.  IP Camera Communication is not happening on VLAN 1

    Posted 01-08-2025 01:53

    Hello Juniper Team,

We are migrating one of the customers environment from Huawei to Juniper. Customer has bind all the gateways on the firewall and routing the respective traffic through VLANs. The IP camera's gateway is reachable from the Juniper EX2300 switch. However, when we connect a laptop or camera to the switch port, the IP camera's gateway, which is bound to the firewall, becomes unreachable. The port connected with the laptop or camera is on VLAN 1 and on access mode but still there is no reachability with the gateway.

Can some one help us out.

    Hi Muhammad,

    • Is the Juniper switch a pure Layer2 switch, with access ports in different VLANs configured on the switch?
    • "The IP camera's gateway is reachable from the Juniper EX2300 switch" - Using which source IP on the switch is the gateway reachable from the switch?
    • Is there any dot1x/radius configuration on the switch to authenticate the ports?
    • Do the laptops/cameras have correct static IPs configured, or do they get DHCP-assigned IPs correctly?

    Regards

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Please find below response against your queries:

    • Is the Juniper switch a pure Layer2 switch, with access ports in different VLANs configured on the switch?
        • Yes this is a layer 2 switch and multiple services are running on different VLANs.
    • "The IP camera's gateway is reachable from the Juniper EX2300 switch" - Using which source IP on the switch is the gateway reachable from the switch?
        • Yes the gateway is reachable from switch.
    • Is there any dot1x/radius configuration on the switch to authenticate the ports?
        • No
    • Do the laptops/cameras have correct static IPs configured, or do they get DHCP-assigned IPs correctly?
        • Cameras work on static IP addresses and we have verified the IP's multiple times.

    Regards,

Can you kindly share the following from the switch?

    • configuration of the VLAN
    • configuration of the interface connected to the camera/laptop
    • configuration of the interface connected towards the firewall
    • ping from the switch to the gateway
    • output of "show ethernet-switching table"

    Regards

    Team,

The issue gets resolved. Basically we need to tagged the VLAN 1 on the trunk as native VLAN for communication.
