Hi all,
I have a EX4600 switch that I suspect has hardware failure on the SFP port on it. Background of the problem is as follows:
1. the port in question has a SFP in it for CWDM wavelength 1330nm, 3rd party manufacturer
2. port in question was working fine until it was noticed that there is no traffic going over the port. The port is part of an ae interface so there was no loss of connectivity and the problem was not noticed right away.
3. during testing the following is observed:
- using the existing optical cable between the CWDM and switch port the port is in down state but when issuing show interface diagnostics optics xe-0/0/x it can be seen that there is a signal being sent and received. The same behaviour can be seen on the EX4600 switch on the other side of the link.
- when testing with the loopback command the port comes up
- when trying the physical loop on the SFP with an optical cable the port doesn't come up
- when replacing the optical cable the situation is the same
- when putting the SFP in another SFP port, copying the configuration to the new port and using the existing cable the port doesn't come up
- when replacing the optical cable the SFP in the new port comes up without a problem
- when putting another SFP in the problematic SFP port the same problems are observed with it as well
Is there something else I can do or test before reporting the problem to JTAC?
Any help is appreciated.
