EX VC l2 connectivity through me / vme

    Hi,

We will deploy a Virtual Chassis made of 2 x EX4400-24X. We would like to make use of the VME as the management interface.

The physical me interface of each switch (Sw1 and Sw2) will be connected to a router, R1 and R2. R1 and R2 will have a physical IP and also a VRRP IP (the 3 IPs part of the same subnet/vlan as the vme IP). The VRRP IP will act as the gateway for the switches.

My question is, is there l2 communication through the me/vme interfaces so R1 can see R2 (and the VRRP converge) through the em interfaces? Or I need to define an additional physical direct link from R1 to R2 (red line below) in order to have l2 connectivity and allow the VRRP to converge?

I have read that me interfaces don´t forward traffic, but also that when you connect to an me by using vme IP the traffic is redirected to the master box... so I am afraid of connecting the red link and causing a L2 loop.

    Thanks!
