Hello,
We are currently using Inter-Chassis Services Redundancy Daemon (SRD) between 2 MX480 using MS-MPC using feature services Stateful-Firewall, NAT, IDS, and IPSEC and using JunOS 21.2R3-S8.5.
The MS-MPC-128G is going EOHE - End of Hardware Engineering support cycle thus we need to migrate to the replacement MS-SPC3. Before we place the order, I need to validate we can migrate with minimal impact to production.
Question-1: I was told MS-SPC3 cannot co-exist with the MS-MPC-128G/MS-SPC2 on the same chassis. I understand that operationally you cannot have multiple service card/module on the same chassis. But for migration purposes, at least just to check that the new MS-SPC3 will boot properly before the config drop, what will happen if we have both on the chassis?
Question-2: Can anybody comment on this high-level method-of-procedure (MoP).
- Make router-1 SRD active for production traffic.
- Break SRD between router-1 and router-2.
- Operationalize router-2 from MS-MPC-128G/MS-SPC2 to MS-SPC3.
- Migrate production traffic to router-2.
- Operationalize router-1 from MS-MPC-128G/MS-SPC2 to MS-SPC3.
- Reconfigure SRD between router-1 and router-2.
Please and thank you for the comments.
