  • 1.  B-EX2300-C vs EX2300-C ???

I am confused. What is the difference between B-EX2300-C and EX2300-C. what does the B stand for ?

i was searching in EOL notifications for my 2300 switches when when I ran across an EOL notice  for B-EX2300.

the link brought me to Sky Enterprise EOL ,

are my beloved EX2300-C hardware switches going EOL soon ?

    Hi,

The Items on the EOL page are e.g. "B-EX2300-C12P-3S-E" and reference to some of the Sky enterprise Licenses not the physical hardware. No EOL date of the EX2300s has been announced currently.

However the EX2300/3400 platform was released in 2018 which is now 6 years ago and the replacement EX4100(-f) have been released back in 2022 so I don't expected that there will be a long time before their EOL is announced.

    Merci beaucoup Harry,
Eol is bound to happen to my beloved 2300-c . Funny how I went from hating their guts when they were crashing in 2019 to now can’t live without them. Those things are tanks and I will miss them dearly.
    Îll check the 4100.

    Hi!

HarryC may be underestimating the life cycles of Juniper products. For instance, the EX4200 was released in 2008 and was announced end of sale in 2019 with support ending this past summer (2024). A switch being sold 11 years is quite impressive, even if sales probably dropped in 2014 when the EX4300 was introduced.

Sadly, my crystal ball is in for polishing at the local wizard maintenance centre so my predictions may be a bit off, especially about the future, but I do think that the EX2300 and EX3400 will be around for a couple of years at least. The EX4100-F-12T/P are wonderful switches (I have one in my home office right beside me) but they do come with a slightly modified price tag compared to the EX2300/3400 and given the track records of latter two and their feature set (which outperforms most office switches in the market), I think they can be quite competitive for a few more years.

Michael: I'll let you know as soon as my crystal ball is all polished up!

Yes this is all with a crystal ball, juniper does give their devices a good lifespan and do like the EX23/3400s even if their storage is a bit limited.
