  • 1.  Automatic Switch Metro-E Link

    Posted 07-31-2023 00:20

    Hi,

I have 2 Metro-E link from different provider connected to my EX4300 Switch.

We trunk the vlans to deliver the services.

Sometimes, if 1 link fail, the vlans still going through failure link, because the interface is still up and junos still think that link is up.

How to overcome this condition? i want, if the metro-e link fail (in the middle of MPLS), juniper can automatically switch to backup link

how to do that ? and how the configuration?

    Thanks in advanced

    Hello

There are several ways how this can be done. What is Metro-E is it a pure channel, l2 transmission or what ?
What bandwidth are these channels ? the same ?
What latency are the channels ?

If this is a layer 3 link you could configure dynamic routing protocols across the link so that the routes will just go away when the peer across the vlan link is lost.

For layer 2 connections you can configure test probes using RPM to have the switches on either side see if the link is still reachable.
