Hi community,
We are designing a multicast network for a broadcast customer using Juniper EX4100 switches running Junos OS Evolved. The design uses PIM Sparse Mode with Anycast RP between two central sites for RP redundancy.
According to Juniper documentation, the anycast-pim statement under [edit protocols pim rp local family inet] was introduced in Junos OS Release 9.0 for EX Series switches and has been supported on EX ever since. We also found that the Junos OS documentation for anycast-pim lists EX Series as a supported platform.
However when checking the Juniper Feature Explorer for EX4100 specifically, we could not find a clear confirmation that Anycast RP is supported on the EX4100 running Junos OS Evolved.
Our specific questions:
Can the EX4100 (Junos OS Evolved) host a PIM RP on a loopback interface using set protocols pim rp local address x.x.x.x?
Is Anycast RP with MSDP supported on EX4100 specifically - or is this a feature that has not yet been ported to Junos OS Evolved on the EX4100?
Background: in our POC the RP was hosted on an SRX loopback (confirmed working). For production we want to evaluate whether moving the RP to the EX4100 is viable, or whether keeping it on the SRX is the safer approach.
Any experience or confirmed platform-specific knowledge very welcome.
Thanks
