  • 1.  Redirect SRX log messages output to console port

    Posted 11-14-2013 05:42

    Hello Community,

Is there a way to redirect SRX log messages output to console port ?

For instance, I would like to be able to see the output of an ISSU upgrade operation on the console port.

Running JUNOS 12.1X44-D20.3 on an SRX5600 cluster.

    Thank you for your help.

    Best regards.

use command monitor start  for real time monitoring of log files used in ISSU

    • /var/log/messages on both Routing Engines (RE)
    • /var/log/ksyncd on the backup RE
    • Console printout of ISSU
    • Vmcore, if any, from both REs
    • /var/log/ksyncd_xxx, ksyncd core, from backup RE
    • /var/log/chassisd
    • e.g. monitor start /var/log/ksyncd

    Hello,

Very useful tip but no quite exactly what I'm looking for.

I want to be able to redirect that output to the console port of the device so I can follow progress of ISSU operation from an out-of-band terminal server connected to the console port.

monitor start allows me that but prints the display on my inband SSH/Telnet session.

    Thank you.

Please read option mentioned at 3rd line of my previous post and also go through the link given in previous post . I have plenty of experience of Junos Installation on devices ranging from EX 3200 to SRX 3600 (but not ISSU), Junos installation process output is always available on console port, just try to have connection to device through console. It will work...
